Hawaii

The first part of January Kristin, Dietrich and I went to Laie to visit Lindsey, Pike and Ruby. We had a blast. Hawaii was beautiful! Everything was so green and lush. The North Shore was amazing with all the beaches and the small town feel. Honolulu was great too. Thanks to Pike for teaching me how to surf and for hosting us. Dietrich already misses his best cousin Ruby. We love you guys.

Dietrich was afraid of how loud the ocean was. But once he got in, he loved it.

First Haircut

Dietrich had his first Haircut right before we went to Hawaii. His hair was really thin so we thought if we buzzed it, it might grow in a little thicker. He was a champ; he didnt even cry. Surprisingly I think it is working; it is coming in thicker.

December 2010

Here are some pictures from our fun times during the month of December. We celebrated Kristin's Birthday, Dietrich's Birthday, Christmas in Phoenix, and New Years in Midway.

And of course I had to keep tradition and swim on Christmas day. The water was really cold (52 F) but tradition is tradition.

Dietrich's # 1

One year ago from this morning at 6:17 am, Dietrich Mitchell Transtrum was born into our family. He has been such a blessing in our lives and a great source of laughter and happiness. We will be celebrating his birthday later today but I just wanted to write a little bit about him this morning. In Dietrich's first year on this earth he has learn a few things and as a proud father I want to share them.

1. Not only can he walk but he knows how to run
2. His favorite game is "lets chase and scare Dietrich until he laughs/cries"
3. He no longer likes baby food- only big boy food for him
4. He loves food more than anything else in the world and will do anything to get it
5. He prefers his dad over anyone in the world-even mom
6. When it is bed time he prefers his mom over anyone in the world- even dad
7. He knows American Sign Language for Eat, More, Drink, and Thank you
8. When you ask him where is nose is- 5 times out of 6 he points to his nose

9. Every time dad says "give mom kisses", he will find his mom and give her kisses
10. He now knows how to distort his face to make a sad face to get some pity- mostly laughs

We love Dietrich so much and are so thankful he was born into our family.

We were going to the Hogle Zoo today for Dietrich's Birthday but we got snowed in.

November Happenings

This year has gone by so fast. Our little Tricky is almost a year old and we cant believe it. Here are some pictures of our November fun.

Kristin ran a 5k with the girls in my family (Momma Lorraine, Chelsea, Jenna, and Emily) in St. George. They missed Ali but she was 9 months prego so that would have been bad if she ran the race.

I ran a 5k on Thanksgiving morning in 12 degree weather. It was crazy because I didnt know if I was drooling or snotting because my face was constantly wet. I have never ran in my life so I thought I did pretty good. I finished in 32 minutes. Check out the ice build up on my hat.

And of course we played in the snow. Dietrich didnt really like it. I think it was because his gloves kept falling off and his hands were cold. I was a good dad and taught him how to eat the snow (not the dirty yellow snow).

Thanksgiving was great! The Maxfields came up and we had fun and food all week long. We are so thankful for our family and friends who support us in everything we do. We are thankful for our health and happiness. We are thankful for Heavenly Father always taking care of us. We are thankful for our opportunities to grow and most of all we are thankful for the knowledge of the gospel. We love you all and hope your Thanksgiving was as wonderful as ours.
